#DMUglobal Alumni Volunteering Trip to Ahmedabad, India - Applications now open.
We are looking for Alumni to support the Loving Community Project in Ahmedabad, India.
As part of DMU Square Mile India, DMU alumni will travel alongside current DMU students to Ahmedabad to volunteer together and make a difference. As part of the Loving Community Project, working with Manav Sadhna the group will have the chance to engage in a life changing project and see the positive impact Square Mile India has on local residents.
This opportunity will consist of a mixture of volunteering with the Loving Community, the Gandhi Ashram, contributing to a conference and participating in volunteering workshops.
As part of DMU Square Mile India, students, staff, alumni and the public raise money to support over 2,000 children a year from across Ahmedabad, and fund the running costs of the Loving Community Centre.
All alumni taking part in the trip will be expected to fundraise/donate a minimum of £500 to the Square Mile India fund through DMU's Crowdfunding platform - #DMUtransform. The#DMUforlife team will provide assistance with setting up and running your fundraising page.
During the trip alumni and students can use their free day to explore Ahmedabad, visit some of the beautiful temples and historic sites, or volunteer with Manav Sadhna.
Travel and accommodation
Flights will be booked by the #DMUforlife team, with participants staying in accommodation provided by the Manav Sadhna charity.
In order to participate in this trip you are responsible for ensuring that you meet the Indian immigration requirements.
The #DMUforlife team will provide documents as required. You must ensure that you apply for your visa as soon as you have been formally accepted on to this opportunity by #DMUforlife. You are responsible for checking processing times and meeting all application requirements in order to ensure that you receive your visa prior to departure. Please be aware that immigration decisions are made by individual embassies.
Most alumni will need a visa to visit India, and more information can be found on the gov.uk website. Contact the High Commission of India to find out how to apply for a visa. The #DMUforlife team will be able to help and advise with obtaining a visa.

- Alumni will be required to pay for: UK and in-country transfers, food and drink, visa (if applicable)
- Alumni fundraising/donation to Square Mile India: £500 (via #DMUtransform).
- #DMUforlife contribution: £400
