No Space for Hate is our commitment to challenge inappropriate behaviours and provide practical support to students who are victims, survivors or witnesses of hate or harassment.

DMU is a diverse institution, and we want to continue to create an inclusive and respectful environment for all students and staff. 

If you have been a victim or a witness to an incident and require urgent support now, please call 999.

The advice team offer an opportunity to discuss your situation and options around your wellbeing, reporting options and academic support within DMU and through external services

    If you've been a victim of a hate incident or crime, you have options for reporting it to the police or to De Montfort University via DMU security on 0116 2577642. Every incident matters, regardless of its scale. Remember, you can report a hate incident or crime even if you weren't directly targeted.

    • For non-emergency situations, such as when there's no immediate threat, you can call 101 or visit a police station

    In an emergency or a threat to someone’s safety, please call the emergency services on 999 now. If you feel you are in crisis now, please explore further options for support outside of DMU.

    Training is available for staff and students to learn more about hate-related behaviour and how to prevent it.
